The Punya Jayam for our son was held yesterday (29th Oct ‘06) and we have named him Pranav (which means OM). The choice for the name was rather tough with names like Abhishek, Rahul and Rahul (& not to forget Nikhil, Aditya, Navneet, Manav etc) featuring in the list. Our personal preference went from Rahul to Pranav and thankfully the public vote also indicated Pranav

The considerations that we had while choosing a name for the kid were that it should not feature high above in the class roll number for the kid (an important consideration … which is why names starting with A did not make the cut), should be pronounceable by anyone anywhere in the world and it should be short (ask me )

The Divine sound ‘OM” is also called Pranav because it originates from Prana (the vital vibration). We hope that Pranav likes the name we have given him

Nandhu and I are less than 2 weeks away from an event that would be the most eventful moment in our lives, the arrival of our little one. Parenting a new Baby is a feeling that evades any description to me, a mixture of elation, joy, fear, excitement …

How sweet would it be to feel the tender fingers and skin of a new born baby, so helpless and innocent, unaware of the world and completely dependent on us. To hold it close to your body and give it your warmth. Waiting for it to conjure a magical smile on its lips, looking at you eye to eye, responding to your call, being comforted in your presence

This is all such a magical thing, my wife always wonders how wonderful is nature’s way to make conception that interesting journey that it is, whoever it was up above, who conjured this up, certainly knew that great things do not come i a hurry !

Awaiting the Darling of our Lives

Oh little one … the pearl in our hearts
as your prepare to embark on this journey called life
with a skin so tender and a heart so sweet
our comforting arms await you

As Mother & Father, we hope to fulfill
every desire of your yours, dreams & more
endow you with wisdom and care
wipe every tear and cheer every smile

You shall make our lives more complete
make us smile when we are tired
give us joy and then some more
enrich this moment with so much more to do

You will be the the pearl in our hearts
growing ever finer with age and time
we cannot wait to welcome you
for you are, the darling of our lives
