Welcome Pranav

October 30th, 2006

The Punya Jayam for our son was held yesterday (29th Oct ‘06) and we have named him Pranav (which means OM). The choice for the name was rather tough with names like Abhishek, Rahul and Rahul (& not to forget Nikhil, Aditya, Navneet, Manav etc) featuring in the list. Our personal preference went from Rahul to Pranav and thankfully the public vote also indicated Pranav

The considerations that we had while choosing a name for the kid were that it should not feature high above in the class roll number for the kid (an important consideration … which is why names starting with A did not make the cut), should be pronounceable by anyone anywhere in the world and it should be short (ask me ;-) )

The Divine sound ‘OM” is also called Pranav because it originates from Prana (the vital vibration). We hope that Pranav likes the name we have given him

An evening at the Cricket ground

Night CricketNight Cricket Hosted on Zooomr

I went to the ICC Champions Trophy Cricket match between New Zealand and South Africa at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai yesterday. A relatively low scoring game, it still had its interesting moments with Stephen Fleming & Kyle Mills taking the honors along with Jacob Oram. New Zealand very effectively defended a lowish total of 195 to dismiss the promising South Africans for a paltry 105

The Flower picker

Flower Picker

It is not very often that I manage to shoot candid people shots like this one, of a flower picker in Matheran. He was deeply engrossed in his work and didn’t notice, neither did he care for the snap that I took of him. Hope I can get over my mental block of taking shots of people and manage more like this
