The week after …
6:24 pm, Tuesday, 11th of July 2007. It is a week since the gruesome set of incidents rocked Mumbai. A day most unfortunate. Many lost their lives and many more injured and perhaps maimed
There has been a lot of talk about the spirit of the Mumbaikar and so on, but that to me seems to be a lot of bravado. To me, it reflects a lack of sensitivity on behalf of the Mumbaikar (me included) to Death & Sorrow around him. I am surprised at my own lack of emotional quotient and as to why I did not feel that pain that many of those affected would have felt
Am I (or should I say are we) getting hardened by numerous indicents of violence and unnatural death around us that such events do not affect us anymore ? Are we getting overly influenced by this so-called ’spirit of Mumbai’ and actually living in a land of make believe ? Shouldn’t we pause for more than a moment and think why we lost so many lives ? What is to prevent this from happening again ?
I dont have answers to these … but I sure do hope that we all can do our bit to help the affected and also do our bit to ensure that mindless hatred and terror have no place on Earth
You can do your bit to help the affected by contributing to Indian Red Cross via eBay India
